Welcome everyone :) Things may be a little slow at the moment as I am in my last few months of school so I am swamped with work and exams but if you had time to leave a comment it would make my day!

Off The Shelf Challenge

Off the Shelf Challenge is hosted by BA Reading Challenges. The challenge is to read the books you already own, that seem to be multiplying every time you blink. I know I have such a problem with this. I love buying new books and then I seem to not read them, not because I don't want to, but because I want to buy more.

There are five levels for the challenge. I'm going to do Making A Dint which is to read 30 books. That is probably the amount of books I own but haven't read yet so it seems like a good amount. The challenge runs from 1st January - 31st December 2011 and you can only use books that you bough BEFORE January 1st. However, if you don't own many books but a TBR pile that you are drowning in, you can read books off that as long as you don't add any books after the challenge has begun.

Below is a basic idea of what I plan to read but I will probably add to the list or change it slightly. The list will also be posted in the challenges page at the top of my blog. They aren't all YA books but most of them are, just so you are aware.

1. Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick
2. Revolution by Jennifer Donnelly
3. Clockwork Angel  by Cassandra Clare
4. The Luxe by Anna Godberson
5. Ruby Red by Linzi Glass
6. Boys Don't Cry by Malorie Blackman
7. A Gathering Light by Jennifer Donnelly
8. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
9. The City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
10. Hate List by Jennifer Brown
11. Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles

Well that is my list for now. It is a fabulous challenge so have a think about joining in :)

  2. I think it is a problem a lot of avid readers have. We are a little too...ambitious to put it mildly :P

  3. I think I'm going to join this challenge, too. I have soooo many books I've bought but haven't read. I keep pushing them aside for new books. I like your word "ambitious" to describe our book buying habits. :P

  4. I felt that ambitious was a nicer way of putting what some people would probably can an obsession. They should really set up Readers Anonymous to cure us, but to be honest I don't want to be :P

  5. Haha, nope, I don't want to be cured either!

  6. Oh wow, this would be a good one for me, too! I love buying new books, and I do that, a lot. Now my book closet is full and there are like a gazillion books there, unread.. (but looked at a lot, I love to look at my closet! Yes, I am a dork.)

    Good luck with the challenge!

  7. Buying books is amazing. Bookshops are like Heaven to me. Well I can safely say you are not alone, I too am a dork :) I just stare at my bookshelf sometimes, in awe of how pretty my books are.

Thanks, good luck to you too :)

  8. Lol I do that too! I thought I was the only one that did that xD!

I have to say that I rarely buy in store (although that might be different now that I've found a *cheap* english bookstore nearby) and ordering online makes it so much easier.. Plus it's like Christmas when you open the package! :D

*signs up for the challenge* haha!

  9. Nope, I do it too xD I'm not a big in store buyer myself but I love to browse. I completely agree about getting packages, I'm like a child :P I'm glad you're joining up :)

  10. Thanks for joining in Alice!

It's pretty hard to not keep buying books isn't it? It's one of my bad (but not regrettable) bad habits.

I hope you enjoy the challenge and I look forward to seeing how you go!

    Good luck.

  11. Thanks for doing it, it is an amazing challenge.

So hard. I do try to limit myself and with this challenge it should most definitely help.

    Thanks, you too :)
