Welcome everyone :) Things may be a little slow at the moment as I am in my last few months of school so I am swamped with work and exams but if you had time to leave a comment it would make my day!

350 Page Books 2011 Challenge

This is a 2011 book challenge that encourages readers to read thicker books, past the 350 page mark. I was talking to Small Review about this, and how we were slightly put off by thicker books. I just read Beautiful Creatures which was around 560 pages. I loved it and I'm so glad I read it but it took a lot of effort to actually start it. The Challenge is being hosted by What's Your Story? and there are all the details on her site. The books do generally have to be YA but some adult fiction is allowed to :)

 The Guidelines:

  • This challenge does not have to only include YA, but it should be predominantly YA that means at least 75% of the books you read should be young adult fiction.
  • Each book MUST contain 350 pages or more.
  • Only physical copies and e-books will count toward the challenge. (Sorry, but audio books don’t have pages!) YES, e-readers DO count! :)
  • You can add each book as you read them. You do NOT have to make a list.

I shall definitely be joining the fun. Also I would love to hear your recommendations of books I should read that are longer than 350 pages :)

  1. I'm doing this too :D It looks like it could be a good challenge, thank god there isn't a certain number of books that you'd have to read though.. Otherwise I think I'd be even more put off haha.

  2. I will admit that I stole it from your site. You are always doing great challenges :) I know right! I probably won't read that many but I would like to try and read more. I couldn't imagine if they said more than 10. That would total at like 4000 pages for just this challenge. Pure madness.

  3. Haha XD I think I may have gone a bit OTT with challenges for 2011, but I think they could cross over pretty nicely so I'm not too worried :D I'll see how it goes.

4000 pages o.O I wonder how many pages people read each year on average. *goes to investigate*

  4. I love challenges, especially being a new blogger. It is the first time I've done them so I'm throwing myself right it. Yeah mine do that too so it's all good :)

Goodreads does a stat of how many pages you've read in a year. I'm at 2730 this year, but I hope to at least double it next year. It definitely seems like such a large number but when it comes down to it I'm sure most avid readers double it.

  5. That's me!! :P

You know, I saw this challenge title around and I thought, "Huh, 350 page challenge? I could totally do that!"

Yeah, that was when I thought it meant read books that are 350 pages OR LESS. Why I thought or less, I don't know. Wishful thinking? Ha. Well, erhm, I know I should probably do this challenge... eaahh, ok, ok, if you're doing it then I'll do it too. But if I choose books that are 351 pages, those count, right? :P

  6. Haha. Now that would have been easy. Definitely wishful thinking, nothing wrong with that now and again. Definitely do it. And because there isn't a specific number of books you read there is no way you can really fail (I love that). Definitely counts :P I'll be search of those ones too xD

  7. Interesting challenge, one I haven't heard of before. But, I think most books I read are over that for the most part, so it kind of defeats the challenge!

  8. yeah, it is definitely unusual. Most of the books I read are about 350-400 pages but I like to feel accomplished regardless, but obviously the challenge isn't for everyone.
