The Body Finder by Kimberly Derting
The cover is just gorgeous to start with. It is about a girl who can sense murdered bodies and with a serial killer on the loose takes on the role of finding him and stopping him. I've never heard of a book like this and I'm so intrigued by it. I've read some amazing reviews of it and the second instalment came out recently-ish I think.
The book looks wonderful. I love the odd angle of the picture on the front cover. My knowledge of this book is quite limited but it has something to do with the main character having nightmares that cannot be explained. As she begins to understand her nightmares she begins to question all that she has known. It is a fairly new release (September 2010) and is only out in hardback at this moment in time.
I am a HUGE Sarah Dessen fan. I don't think words could even describe how in love with her writing I am. This is the only one of hers I haven't read. I don't know how I've managed to surpass it but I have. There is no doubt in my mind that I will love it. From what I know it is about a girl in an abusive relationship, along with troubles at home, a missing sister if I recall correctly. It is one of her older novels and it seems to be slightly darker than her newer ones perhaps? I do hope there is some happy romance though, because I just seem to expect it with Sarah Dessen. Hopefully I will get it for Christmas this year! (fingers crossed)
The number of gushing reviews I have read is insane. Words don't seem to exist to describe how amazing this book is. How can I not have read it yet? The book tells the story of a girl with a perfect life who is forced to relive the same day 7 times. It deals with the actions in our daily lives and how it affect things. Sam (the main character) learns that she has the power to change the way things are by slightly altering what she does. It has been likened to Groundhog Day which I have not seen (but must at some point), in the sense of reliving the same day. Regardless it looks absolutely superb and is another book I hope to get for Christmas.
Have any of you read these books? Are they deserving of taking up space on my TBR list. I'd love to hear your thoughts :)
Love all those covers! I really enjoyed Before I Fall, but that's the only one I've read. Jessica Warman is a great writer though! I hope you like reading all of these, Alice! :)
ReplyDeleteJust blog walking and want to say hi to the owner, I'm enjoying reading your review/story

Melissa: I'm glad you enjoyed Before I fall, I'm so exited to read it. I do hope Where The Truth Lies is good then. Thanks :)
ReplyDeleteAndreas Jackson: Thanks :)
I read The Body Finder and enjoyed it a lot. The romance is really sweet and the murder parts are exciting. If I remember correctly, the book ended pretty neatly, too, so while there is a sequel you don't have to worry about cliffhangers. The cover is really eye catching.
ReplyDeleteI have Before I Fall on my TBR, too. I read and liked Delirium, though not as much as I was hoping.
Oh I'm so glad you enjoyed it. It really sounds like a book I would love. I must admit I'm not a huge fan of cliffhangers, especially when the next book isn't out yet, because I am so impatient so I am glad that it is neatly tied up, even through the second book is out now/soon.
ReplyDeleteDelirium has had so much hype recently it is very hard not to have such high expectations. I do worry about that when there are books that have been raved about so much. I will admit I was a little worried about The Hunger Games but goodness, it was amazing.
I'm in 100% agreement with you about cliffhangers. I always ask if a series installment ends on a cliffhanger. If it does, then I'm much less likely to pick up the book until after the whole series has already been published. I'm just too impatient and too forgetful. I also don't like leaving things half done, and that's what it feels like when the story just leaves you hanging. Like I just stopped reading in the middle of a book (which, yeah, I guess that's pretty much what's going on :P ).
ReplyDeleteI read Delirium before I heard any hype about it, so I didn't know what to expect. Now that there is so much hype I'm really curious to see how it is received.
I'm so glad to hear about The Hunger Games. I took out the first book a long time ago and then realized it was the first in a series so I brought it back unread. I've been dying to read it because I hear so many positive things, but I wanted to wait until all three were published. Now I just have to find time!
Exactly! I like everything completed, neat and tidy. TV shows give me enough grief, having to wait to find out stuff. Books are generally a neat and tidy finish. I heard that Catching Fire had huge cliffhangers so I bought both that and Mockingjay together so I don't have to wait :)
ReplyDeleteYeah I am too. All the bloggers I know are waiting with anticipation, and the high hopes also come from the incredible reception of Before I fall. I'm excited to read it and see what I think
YES! Go read it. AMAZING! Like so AMAZING! And I thought I was the last person to read them :P It should be bumped to the top of your TBR Pile! Not kidding. Time is a huge drawback, if there were only more hours in the day.
