Welcome everyone :) Things may be a little slow at the moment as I am in my last few months of school so I am swamped with work and exams but if you had time to leave a comment it would make my day!

Book Blogger Hop (2)

This is a weekly meme hosted by Crazy For Books where you answer a question each week and this aims to promote blog interaction and make new friends. This weeks question is:

"What very popular and hyped book in the blogosphere did you NOT enjoy and how did you feel about posting your review?"

hmm, that is such a tough question. To be honest I've only read a few really hyped books and I did love them. I suppose Hush, Hush wasn't quite as good as I hoped but I loved it none the less. In general when I don't love a book everyone else does I feel pretty bummed about it because I feel as if I'm wrong. I do try to be nice and constructive and state WHY I didn't like something. I do like to give really popular books a go because there is usually a reason why so many people like them. If you read a mixed review, sometimes it just doesn't fit that person. I encourage you to still give them a go!

What do you do besides reading / reviewing as a hobby??

um, well I do Ballroom and Latin dancing once a week and I play the flute. I love to bake when I have a spare moment as well. I enjoy browsing book blogs, reading reviews. Super fun!

  1. Happy Friday, Alice! There are a few books I really haven't loved that were super hyped...namely Twilight (the whole dang series) and The Lonely Hearts Club. I guess it happens though, right?! :)

    Happy Friday!

  2. Hi Alice! I'm just popping in via the hop to say hi! Hush, Hush is a love it or hate it read I think, there didn't seem to be a lot of ambiguous feelings for it. I enjoyed the first one, but I had some trouble with Crescendo though I think I'm one of the few that did:) It's fun to see how everyone reacts to the same books! I'm a new follower here and I hope you have a great weekend:)

  3. Melissa: Thanks Melissa. Happy Friday to you too! I read Twilight when I was 13, before it got all overly hyped and I quite enjoyed it (but I was so young) but I can't stand it now. It does happen, we all have different tastes and some things just don't work for us.

Jenny: Thanks :) Hey! Yeah, it definitely is. I've bought crescendo but haven't read. I'm interested to see how I like it. I love reading multiple reviews on books before I buy, I find it so interesting. Thanks for the follow :) You too.

  4. I still haven't read HUSH, HUSH, even though I've had it on my shelf for quite a while now. Maybe I'm avoiding it because I'm afraid it won't live up to the hype?? Hmmm ...

Glad to have found you via the Hop :)

  5. Just hopping in from the Blog Hop. I liked Hush Hush, but it wasn't my favorite. I think it was better than Fallen, but there are so many better books in the genre. I've been kinda down on Angel books lately, they just haven't been living up to the good hype. Halo was horrid (and my pick for this blog hop bad book). Love the blog so I'm now your newest follower.

  6. Susan: Definitely give it a go sometime, I'll be interested to see whether you like it or not. Thanks :)

Jen: I'm actually so sad to hear that about Halo. I was so excited to read it. I just got Fallen from the library this week so I'll be interested to see what I think of it. Thanks :) I'm going to go check out your blog now!

  7. I've been very lucky too with the hyped books I've chosen to read. I had quite the same thoughts about Hush Hush.

  8. That's really fortunate. I do worry that if I get a bad over hyped book it will put me off but I hope that doesn't happen. Sometimes I do get unrealistically high expectations and I think it happened a little with Hush, Hush especially with the gorgeous cover but it was still good.

  9. I haven't read Hush Hush. It's on my TBR list, but it's not very high.

  12. Howard: I agree, it is sometimes nice to have a question unrelated to books.

Bookdout: Thanks :) Definitely, I think some people forget that when reading reviews.

  13. I understand that completely, feeling like I am wrong with my opinion. Great answer.

  14. I'm starting to get a bit more confident with my opinion, it is just hard when everyone says one thing and feel another.

  15. Ballroom and Latin? Very cool, very unusual. I used to do ballet. Kind of boring.

  16. It is a lot of fun. I used to do ballet when I was younger too. I was quite atrocious though.

  19. Ballroom and Latin dancing sounds like so much fun! I'm super impressed, as I'm pretty uncoordinated myself.

  20. It is super fun. It is the only dancing I actually enjoy and I've tried a lot (tap, ballet etc.) I wouldn't call myself coordinated by any means. I'm always stumbling around. and the heels don't make it any easier.
