Welcome everyone :) Things may be a little slow at the moment as I am in my last few months of school so I am swamped with work and exams but if you had time to leave a comment it would make my day!

Busting The Newbie Blues

Busting The Newbie Blues is an event hosted by the amazing and fabulous Small Review. Definitely pay her a visit, her blog is spectacular. This event is to help bloggers, especially newbies, to have more blog interaction, resulting in (hopefully) more comments and followers. Experienced bloggers can also take part, sharing tips and tricks and what it was like for them when they were a newbie. There are two questionaires, one for newbies and one for established bloggers. Choose which one fits you best and get answering. Post the answers on your blog and put the link in Mr Linky on her blog. Simple. Click the icon above to see her post.

New Bloggers:

  •  When did you start your blog?
November 1st 2010

  • Why did you start your blog?
I love reading and it is a great way to escape from the outside world. Blogging looks like lots of fun and a  great way to make new friends.
  • What has been the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?

Reading so much. It sounds silly as I have a book blog but I'm so busy with school so reading more than a book a week is difficult. But knowing you guys want to read reviews and such encourages me to read quicker.

  • What do you find most discouraging about being a new blogger?
when people follow and don't comment, or people comment and don't follow.
  •  What do you find most encouraging?
Getting comments and feedback. it makes my day, heck it might even make my week.
  • What do you like best about the blogs you read? Have you tried to replicate this in your blog?
I love memes. I have copied a few ideas from other blogs, editing slightly. I do try to be somewhat original though.
  •  What do you dislike about blogs you’ve read? Do you try to avoid this?
I love pictures, I find them very encouraging. I'm sure people that don't use book cover images and such like have wonderful blogs but I find it much easier with pretty visual aid.
  • Any advice for other new bloggers?
Just have fun. Post what you want to post. Be original and don't be afraid. The more you you are the more people will love you :)
  •   Anything else you’d like to share about your experience?
I'm just having so much fun and would like to thank everyone for the support.

  •   Is there anything you’d like to tell us about your blog?
I feature Mainly YA books, with reviews, lots of weekly memes and it is just a lot of fun. I hope you stop by.

Thanks for hosting Small Review :)

  1. I love that you are just here to have fun!! I am too. Have lots of fun, make lots of friends, and don't take life too seriously!! that's my motto. :)

  2. Great answers. I'm already a follower and enjoy visiting your blog quite regularly :)

  3. I'd follow you but I'm already following you! XD

  4. Aw, you said such nice things. Thank you :)

I love your answers. You know, the conversation we were having in part inspired this idea, so go and pat yourself on that back as well!

I agree with you COMPLETELY about pictures on blogs. I really connect a lot more with a blog and find myself a lot more attracted to it if there are book covers along with the reviews.

I'm so glad you participated and I hope this helps you out. I think your answers will be a big help to other bloggers.

  5. A Novel Affair: Exactly! I find it a great way to escape from everything else that is so serious in my life like school and work. It is such so great :)

The Slowest Bookworm: Thanks so much :) I must make a note to visit yours most. Yours is so great.

    ComaCalm: Aww thank you :)

Small Review: I'm so glad. I really love our conversations :) Thanks *pats self on back* :P

I think it's a cover thing. I'm automatically drawn to books with great covers so I always want to see covers. Glad to know I'm not the only one.

Thank you so much for hosting. It is just so much fun :)

  6. Definitely agree about pictures, they really add something. And I love getting comments too! Glad to hear you're having fun so far :D

  7. It just makes me get more into it I guess. Getting comments is one of the best bits. Thanks :) I hope you're having fun too!

  8. Your blog is officially older than mine by 19 days :D hello fellow newbie blogger! I am now your newest follower. I hope we can share great reviews in the future!

  9. Hey, I'm your newest follower! Great answers! I'm a new blogger as well and I agree with everything you said! Finding time to read can be difficult, especially if you're in school or working. I also love to add images and memes to my blog :o) Come check it out!

  10. Nina B: Hey :) Thanks for following :) I hope so.

Laura: Thanks for following. I'll definitely come and check out your blog!!

  11. I'm so glad you have such a good attitude about blogging, Alice! The whole point is to have fun. Always remember there are going to be people who comment and don't follow and vice-versa. The people who comment all the time and love what you write are the ones who count and will spread the blog love anyway :)

  12. Really agree about the pictures, l didn't know if l was the only person who thought this but a blog without pictures really puts me off! I always try to include pictures in my blog whenever l can

  13. Melissa: thank you so much :) and I just want to thank you for all your support.

Sam and Jodie: I think pictures really add something so I really try to add pictures when I can also.

Small Review: I'm really glad :)

  14. I love meeting other book worms! That's why I started blogging really. I suppose I should've put that in my answers as well! I'll be adding you to my blog roll and am looking forward to another great blog to read! :)

  15. Thank you so much. I love meeting other book worms too. I'm definitely going to check out your blog :)

  16. Hi! Nice to have found your blog!
I'm totally with you there on the challenge of reading enough to post reviews regularly. How do people who post multiple reviews a week manage it?

  17. I know right! I barely manage to read a book a week. I take my hats off to those people. Thanks for following :)

  18. It's not silly to say that you read a book a week. That's definitely better than what I can do. This is a cute blog, I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes.

  19. Thanks :) I do try to read as much as I can, and sometimes it more than a book a week, others it is less. Depends how busy I am.

  20. Hi Alice - you're right. There's a lot of pressure to read now that you're blogging. That's both a gift and a burden. It's great to feel the need to read more, but hard to find the time when you sort of feel an obligation to review. I still love it though!

  21. I love it too. It does help more than it hinders I think.

  22. Hi Alice! I already follow your blog - I think it's a great new blog and it definitely shows that you are having fun with this, which is the most important thing! Keep up the good work! :)

  23. As thank you Leanna. I love your blog too. I'm so glad I found it. Thank you for your support :)

  24. Hey, I just did this myself (:
    Im a new follower (:

  25. I love blogs with visuals, too. Love your answers to this meme! I'm a new follower to your blog and look forward to seeing it grow!

  26. Thank you so much :)I really appreciate it. I will definitely check out your blog!

  27. Love your answers! Great blog! I'm a newbie and a new follower. Excited to see more of your blog!

  28. Thanks :) It means a lot. I will definitely stop by and check out your answers :)

  29. Hello fellow Newbie! Great answers!

I completely agree with the feeling you get when you get a comment! It happens to me every time! I said the same thing about the comments and what a great feeling it is on my Busting The Newbie Blues questionnaire. :)
